(Laughing) Wow, that is the first question? This should be fun. (Still laughing). No. I was never abducted by an alien. Much less from Neplar.
I believe recent technology has revealed there is far more going on in the universe than we ever knew, but, we are far from determining if there is life beyond earth. But the possibilities are there.
Well, really, there were two books. Initially, I wrote the story of Neplar. I was thinking what if there were life on another planet? How would that fit with my faith in God? But soon I determined writing a God story of another world was too epic. It was too much to tell. So, I took pieces of that book and turned them into plates. Then I wrote the story of Tidal Island and incorporated the plates into it. The novel piece was about 6 months, but the plates or lights I had thought of off and on for maybe three or four years.
As a kid, we vacationed every summer at my aunt’s house, who lived in Charleston, SC. I loved the beach. I dreamed of living on a beach island one day. Maybe, that’s where it came from.
Probably most that I did not write the book in chronological order. The first two chapters were written last. I always let the story come to me. I never sat down even one day to write a story. Whatever came to me, characters, setting, story, I would let it play out in my mind, then scribble notes. Then, I would write scenes. At the end, I just put everything in order.
That is true. I had based him on a professor from Cambridge. However, while working out at Planet Fitness one day, I decided to turn Tom evil.
Currents and Crosshairs, The Supernatural life of Robby McKoy, Abracadabra.
(Laughing) Where did you hear that? That is true.
Probably 5 or 6, maybe 7.
O.K. I’ll give just one. In the chapter The Law of the Jungle, C.I.A. agent Conrad Stafford quotes Big Eyed Fish by yelling at an island spider monkey to stay up in his tree.
Totally false. I’m sure the government knows the book is a work of fiction. They have bigger fish to fry.
Is it true you were adducted by an alien from Neplar?
